“THANK you to the parents for their unwavering support. We are proud of our team for coming home with the gold medal; it’s a huge achievement.”

These were the words of Sipepisiwe Premise Fadana, the founder of the Shooting Stars Gymnastics Club, speaking to the Express after the Eastern Cape HUB returned home with gold medals from the national championship held in Cape Town.

The Eastern Cape HUB is a combination of the Shooting Stars Gymnastics Club from Mthatha and Funanstic Gymnastics from Mt Frere.

The team travelled to Cape Town to compete in the National Gymnastics Games hosted by the South African Gymnastics Federation under the “GYM For All” (GFA) category.

Nine teams competed in the event, and the Eastern Cape HUB secured first place overall.

The Eastern Cape team consisted of 24 gymnasts aged 7 to 14 years, and the children emerged victorious.

Last Tuesday, the children were welcomed by their parents as they returned from Ultra City to Mthatha CBD.

The combined club was led by coaches, Fadana Promise, Maxhela Qondile, and Mjindi Lolo.

“Our kids performed exceptionally well in the national championships and emerged victorious. It was not an easy competition, but our kids accomplished it,” said Fadana.

“We are very happy with this achievement and thank the parents for their unwavering support,” said Fadana.
