BORN entertainer Zive Ngcengce, a confident and joyful four-year-old girl from Qumbu outside Mthatha, radiates happiness wherever she goes. Living with a chronic liver disease, she loves to sing and dance, turning every opportunity into a stage performance that captivates everyone around her.

For her Dream Day, the Reach for a Dream Foundation took Zive to the Hotel Savoy & Conference Centre in Mthatha, where a special karaoke setup awaited her in a beautifully decorated venue room, complete with colourful balloons. The moment she spotted a microphone from across the room, Zive jumped right in, performing various songs with confidence and joy. She then requested her favourite song, “Kuzolanga” (it will be alright) by DJ Supta, dazzling everyone with her vibrant singing and dancing. The room was completely captivated by her performance, her energy lighting up the entire space.

After Zive’s show-stopping performance, it was time to reveal her Dream. When she unwrapped her gift and discovered her very own tablet and headphones, her eyes sparkled with excitement. She immediately began exploring her new tablet and proudly wore her headphones for the rest of the day, her joy and excitement filling the room.

“As a family, we are grateful for the wonderful day we had. We will always remember Zive’s Dream Day and how much it made her happy and how much it meant to her,” Zive’s aunt, Yamkela, said.

Lwanele Mpeta, Reach for a Dream Regional Manager in the Eastern Cape, said, “Zive’s joy was contagious from the moment she stepped into the Hotel Savoy & Conference Centre. What stood out most was her incredible self-confidence and optimism, despite the challenges she’s facing. Seeing her light up while singing her favourite song was truly inspiring—it’s a beautiful reminder that things will get better.

“The highlight of her day was receiving her dream tablet, which added the perfect cherry on top of an unforgettable experience. Thank you, Hotel Savoy & Conference Centre, for sponsoring the venue, DJ, photographer, and decoration, and Big Eagle Spur for sponsoring the food,” said Mpeta.
