Dis juis hierom dat Toyota besluit het om \u2019n bekostigbare sportnuts aan die plaaslike mark bekend te stel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hoewel ons die Rush in \u2019n sewesitplek-ge-daante verwag het (soos in oorsese markte), het Toyota SA se marknavorsing duidelik aangedui dat die middelklas-gesin eerder sal doen sonder die beknopte derde ry as hulle \u2019n lekker ruim bagasiebak kan kry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dus sal die Rush plaaslik as \u2019n vyfsitplek-sportnuts beskikbaar wees, met \u2019n lieflike hoe-veelheid ruimte vir kamp- of sporttoe-rus-ting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kort n\u00e1 ons aankoms in Port Elizabeth lig my kollega die luikdeur oop om \u2019n yslike bagasieruim (van 609 liter!) ten toon te stel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My kollega se bestuursbeurt is eerste en ek gebruik die geleentheid om die kajuit beter te bekyk vanuit die voorste passasiersitplek. Ek prop sommer dadelik my iPhone in by die USB-sok, en CarPlay maak terstond sy verskyning op die raakskerm. Sou jy jou slimfoon dalk nie by jou h\u00ea nie, kan jy van die standaard-satnavstelsel op die raakskerm gebruik maak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Die kajuit self (tipies van Indonesies-geboude motors) is \u2019n kombinasie van duursame maar ook meer kostebesparende oppervlakke en afwerking. Die bokant van die swart instrumentpaneel voel asof dit in \u2019n Etios hoort, terwyl die netjiese raakskerm en sy blinkswart agtergrond lyk asof dit tuis sal wees in \u2019n veel duurder motor. Die tweekleurige kleurskema verhelder die donker binneruim, en die sitplekmateriaal voel luuks onder die vingerpunte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die Rush is toegerus met dieselfde dienlike 1.5-liter-enjin as die Toyota Avanza (en die jongste Daihatsu Terios, wat tans nie in Suid-Afrika te kry is nie) waarop hy gegrond is. Die kraguitset van 77 kW gaan nie eindelose vermaak verskaf nie, maar die enjin het \u2019n reputasie dat hy bykans koe\u00eblbestand is, en ook redelik lig op die sous, met ongeveer 8,0 liter se verbruik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die vyfgang-handratkas is nie heeltemal seepglad nie, maar dit sal gemakliker raak soos jy die maandelikse kilo\u2019s afl\u00ea. \u2019n Sesde rat sou gewis welkom gewees het \u2013 teen 120 km\/h toer die enjin teen 5 000 r\/min en die kajuit is nie goed ge\u00efnsuleer teen die klank nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die ritgehalte op gladde teer is goed, maar dit gaan redelik skud-skud op \u2019n swak teerpad. As jy lief is vir Karoo-grondpaaie ry soos ek, gaan jy sommer baie van die Rush hou. Hier voel hy sommer in sy element! Die Rush spog met \u2019n 22 cm-grondvryhoogte en skrik nie vir \u2019n bietjie water nie: Hy het \u2019n waad- diepte van 60 cm, en boonop is die Rush se 17-duim-allooiwielbande lekker fris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Terwyl vierwielaandrywing gaaf sou wees vir duine-ry, is die agterwielaandrywing heel voldoende vir die meeste avonture waarop die intreevlak-sportnuts\u00adkoper sou wou gaan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ma\u2019s en pa\u2019s gaan be\u00efndruk wees met al die veiligheidstoerusting soos ABS met remkragverspreiding, stabiliteitsbeheer en ses lugsakke wat tot heel agter strek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Op pad terug hotel toe het vyf grootmense saam in die Rush gery en dit was nie onuithoudbaar nie, maar met drie kinders agterin sal almal gemaklik wees (met \u2019n driepunt-gordel vir elk). Twee grootmense op die agterbank gaan ook gerieflik sit, met heelwat beenspasie en beweegruimte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gaan Suid-Afrikaners mal wees oor die Rush? Ek dink beslis so. Terwyl die RAV4 en Toyota Fortuner buite bereik is vir die meeste buitelugliefhebbers, is die Rush meer as net \u2019n mooi troosprys. As ons kyk na die mededingers soos die Honda BR-V, wen die Rush loshande met sy lekker ho\u00eb grondvryhoogte, asook lang lys van veiligheids- en geriefstoerusting. Ek sou s\u00ea die Renault Duster is die Rush se kwaaiste mededinger in hierdie segment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ONS Suid-Afrikaners is \u2019n avontuurlustige spul wat
