MOTORISTS from Jeffreys Bay have been arriving in droves to view and pay their camera speeding fines at Kouga Municipality\u2019s main office in Jeffreys Bay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among those who chose to do the right thing this week was Sipho Miggels from the Department of Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI was so glad for this initiative and immediately took the liberty of checking and paying my fines,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt would be great if the municipality could have operations such as this regularly, so as to give Jeffreys Bay residents the opportunity to pay their fines nearer to home.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Community Services Portfolio Councillor Daniel Benson said that the operation would also be taken to other towns. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe want to make it easy for all our motorists to pay their fines,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe will also continue holding roadblocks throughout the area.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He emphasized that failing to pay these or any other traffic fines would result in a Warrant of Arrest being issued for the offender. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou will then also be charged for contempt of court. As a result, the fine will be more than it originally was. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe would also like to caution motorists that, if there is a Warrant of Arrest for you and you are apprehended, the fine must be paid immediately or you face detention.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n He urged motorists to abide by the law when dri-ving.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe all have a role to play in ensuring that everyone arrives safely at their destinations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThrough this initiative, we will continue to enforce a zero-tolerance approach to lawlessness on our roads.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Traffic team will be at the Jeffreys Bay municipal office till
