{"id":56487,"date":"2019-01-31T06:21:08","date_gmt":"2019-01-31T04:21:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/kougaexpress\/woodlands-launches-rubbish-billboard-20190130-2\/"},"modified":"2025-03-21T08:45:22","modified_gmt":"2025-03-21T06:45:22","slug":"woodlands-launches-rubbish-billboard-20190130-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/kougaexpress\/woodlands-launches-rubbish-billboard-20190130-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Woodlands launches \u2018rubbish\u2019 billboard"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>WOODLANDS Dairy has partnered with the Colours of You SA (COYSA) collective to turn trash into art to communicate and highlight the beauty which comes from cleaning up your \u2018hood for good\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The artwork forms part of a billboard on the R303 as motorists leave the N2 and enter Humansdorp, and is part the dairy\u2019s Clean up your Hood for Good campaign. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe wanted to involve local creatives to help us drive awareness about the benefits of cleaning up their neighbourhood,\u201d remarks Woodlands Dairy\/First Choice GM: Sales and Marketing Tinus Pretorius. \u201cWe need to get the public\u2019s attention when it comes to littering, and what better way to use rubbish as medium. It also gives people a taste of the amazing work from the Port Elizabeth arts community.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The billboard is a visual representation of how much beauty we can add to our surroundings if we just gave it a little care. Woodlands Dairy and COYSA hope that the public can become more environmentally aware and be inspired to clean up their \u2018hood for good\u2019; whether through recycling or being creative. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Gerard Addison (art director\/graphic design.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The COYSA collective said of the project: \u201cThanks to the vast size of the billboard we were able to experiment with the recognisable aesthetic of rubbish and use its texture, colour and scale. We\u2019re grateful for the opportunity and to be part of a campaign to prevent future pollution as well as providing us with creative ammunition to convey this powerful message and demonstrate the environmental frustration that exists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe team is fascinated at how it all came together, layer by layer, working as a solid creative unit, while adding our unique touches.
