Ongerep en rustig met vo\u00ebls en bokke wat tussen die fynbos wegkruip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Op die Saterdagoggend van ons stappery by die reservaat, kom Dirk Teubes van Kabeljous Reserve Action Group (K.R.A.G.) aangestap om te groet \u2013 verkyker oor die skouer en hoed op die kop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gereed om sy klein koninkryk met ons te deel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ek vra vir Dirk oor die verskillende staproetes, soos die groen ingangsbord aandui \u2013 die roetes is so kort of so lank soos waarvoor jy kans sien. Dit wissel tussen 500m en 8km.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hy vertel hoe die reservaat tot stand gekom het: \u201cDie K.R.A.G. is in April 2018 deur vrywilligers met een doel gestig: om di\u00e9 kosbare lappie natuur te bewaar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDie reservaat spog met pragtige sanduine wat met natuurlike plantegroei, vleilande, valleibosveld en melkbos (euphorbia) oortrek is.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dirk glimlag: \u201cOns moes selfs die verskillende roetes oopkap \u2013 \u2019n allemintige taak. Maar dit is beslis die moeite werd. Besoekers aan die reservaat sluit in drawwers, bergfietsryers, vo\u00ebl-entoesiaste en ruiters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cK.R.A.G. en Jeffreysbaai Toerisme werk hand-aan-hand om beide die Kabeljous- en Noorsekloof-natuurre-servaat in Da Gamaweg, onder inwoners en toeriste te bemark.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n <b>Staproete<\/b>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dan is dit tyd vir stap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ons volg die River Walk-voetpad wat deur die grasveld na die Kabeljousrivier kronkel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dirk wys laggend na die verskillende pantegroei: \u201cDie reservaat het \u2019n groot verskeidenheid plantegroei \u2013 renos-terveld, melkbos, heuningbosveld duin-plante \u2013 maar ek weet niks van plante nie. Di\u00e9 is \u2019n bos, daardie is \u2019n boom en daar is nog \u2019n bos.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So in die stap vertel hy hoe die verskillende roetes hul naam gekry het: soos byvoorbeeld Slip-Slide. \u2019n Kort afdraand wat na die rivier loop blyk onskadelik, tot dit re\u00ebn. Dan is dit gly-gly \u2013 en soms val \u2013 tot onder. S\u00f3 het die deelnemers aan verlede jaar se Endurade JBayX Trail Run uitgevind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Di\u00e9 dat \u2019n tweede pad, Bypass, aangebring is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dirk beduie met sy hande: \u201cHier is meer as 130 vo\u00eblspesies in die reservaat: visarend, visvalk, swart oestervanger, seeswaeltjie, waterdikkop en seemeeu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cToegewyde vo\u00eblkykers het onlangs die groen krombekstrandloper naby die rivier gemerk \u2013 \u2019n unieke fonds. Dit is onbekend hoekom hy juis hier voorkom. Kenners het van heinde en verre gekom om die vo\u00ebl op kamera vas te l\u00ea.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hoewel hier bosbok, blouduiker, ystervark en skilpad voorkom, sien ons nie enige wild langs die staproete nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oorkant die rivier, kronkel die pad terug na die beginpunt van die staproete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ons volg die roete tot by die kruispad waar \u2019n laagwaterbrug aangebring is, en draai links op die Dune Walk-roete wat jou tot bo-op \u2019n duin neem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oral langs die pad is houtbalke dwars in die sand geplaas, om gronderosie te help voorkom. Nog balke word vir die toekoms beoog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bo gekom, sit ons op \u2019n bankie en kyk wyd na die see \u2013 die windplaas agter ons \u2013 en asem die vars lug in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dirk s\u00ea: \u201cStappers kan tot by die see loop (Beach-stap-roete), terwyl die Lagoon Walk-roete besoekers na die Kabeljous-strandmeer neem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ons sit in stilte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dan is dit tyd vir omdraai en terugstap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Terug by die parekeergebied is ons stil, asof ons nog \u2019n rukkie aan die stilte wil vasklou.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n <b>Moet weet<\/b>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li> Hoe kom ek daar? Daar is twee toegangspunte. Die noordelike ingang is op die R102 net buite Jeffreysbaai gele\u00eb. Na die Kabeljous-brug, kyk vir die ingang en parkeerarea na regs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Vir die tweede ingang, parkeer by die Kabeljous-piekniekarea en stap oor die riviermonding na die duine tot by die bord wat die ingang aandui.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li> Hoe fiks moet ek wees? Die verskillende staproetes het \u2019n opdraend of twee, maar is \u2019n baie maklike stap vir die hele gesin. Om al die roetes op een dag te stap, behoort jy stapfiks te wees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> Wees voorbereid. Bring jou eie water en peuselhappies saam \u2013 daar is nie waterpunte nie.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> Nie toegelaat nie. Geen vierwielmotorfietse, veldmotorfietse, voertuie en honde word toegelaat nie.
