WOODRIDGE College will present Alice Through the Looking Glass<\/i>, a theatrical production, at the Woodridge College Hall from July 26 to 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alice is back in Wonderland and things are more confusing than ever \u2013 flowers talk, the White Queen cries before she pricks her finger, and there\u2019s a life-sized chess game going on. Alice wants to play, but mostly wants to be queen. Will she make it to the eighth square?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Woodridge College production of Alice Through the Looking Glass<\/i> follows the critically acclaimed productions of the Kramer\/Petersen musical District Six<\/i> in 2017 and the poignant play Almost, Maine<\/i> by John Cariani in 2018. Both productions received Woodlands Diary Special Showtime Awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n Alice Through the Looking Glass<\/i>, although not as well-known as the popular Alice in Wonderland<\/i>, has been given a vibrant and movement-based makeover by playwright Lindsay Price. This adaptation lends itself most favourably to a large and enthusiastic ensemble cast of Woodridge pupils who relish the physical challenges demanded of them by both playwright and director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Director Caren Bestbier, Head of Dramatic Arts at Woodridge, explained that she wished to tackle a production style that would stand in stark contrast to her two former productions. She felt that her pupils would gain valuable experience and expand their skill set through working as an ensemble and getting to grips with a simple physical theatre approach. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She has been assisted with the choreography by Grade 11 pupil, Sarah Hagedorn-Hansen, an accomplished ballet dancer. The two have worked together to bring Bestbier\u2019s vision to light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Join Woodridge College for Alice\u2019s fantastical, whirlwind, physical journey through the looking glass. Performances are at 19:00 on Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27, with a matinee performance at 15:00 on July 27. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
