I delightfully discover new favourites: the bees\u2019 liquid gold for my fresh bread and the satiny balm for my skin. Most of all, I love their ethics and integrity.<\/p>\n
Their cart sign, \u201cOpen for Beesiness\u201d, greets you cheekily, and Casey Blum follows humbly. Explaining about their family-operated company, she smiles gently, \u201cWe know where every drop of this honey has come from. We have our own hives and handle every process personally.\u201d <\/p>\n
It is impressive, because of the ethical, eco-friendly way that they insist on the sustained, respectful handling of the endangered, complex and fascinating creatures.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe came from a high-pressure corporate environment, changed careers and became beekeepers.\u201d <\/p>\n
Casey and Jeff do this in a way that taps into nature on every level \u2013 and gives back. The key is to keep the colonies safe and secure in the Van Staden\u2019s gorge where Wild Hive Honey operates. <\/p>\n
They told theplanetperspective blogger previously that they ensure that the bees are never excessively stressed or exposed to chemicals, and that they are protected against predators.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe employ an original way when collecting honey. No filter is used. The honey is strained by means of gravity for four days,\u201d explains Casey. \u201cWe only use solar power on our premises, and believe in good maintenance, close attention to detail and being careful.\u201d<\/p>\n

It is vital to waste nothing \u2013 both in the honey-collecting process and in the manufacturing of their unique products.<\/p>\n
Jeff and Casey consider the feasibility of making products by hand and their cost to the consumer. They prioritise sustainability, freshness and costing. This is why a service like refilling customers\u2019 empty jars is provided.<\/p>\n
