SHE does not have a herd of reindeer, not even Rudolph the Red-Nosed reindeer, or a magical red bag filled with toys, but she is determined to bring cheer and goodwill to those who need it most \u2013 especially the children.<\/p>\n
Thornhill resident and founder of the non-profit organisation Sisterhood, Ziyanda Kilimani, will host a fun and educational Christmas Kiddies Charity Tour from December 23 to December 25. <\/p>\n
The three-day tour \u2013 set to stop in Humansdorp, Jeffreys Bay, Longmore, Rooidraai and Sunnyside \u2013 consists of two legs: an awareness programme to gain more information from homeless children to help reunite them with their families, as well as a fun Christmas programme where children will have the opportunity to take pictures with Santa Claus and have their faces painted.<\/p>\n
They will also be treated to something to eat and drink.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is very painful to see a 7-year-old on the street with no food,\u201d says Kilimani. \u201cThey feel hopeless during this dark time in their lives. <\/p>\n
\u201cI want to show them that there are people that care and want to help them. I want to share the little I have and spend Christmas Day with them \u2013 teaching them what Christmas is all about.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are few things more fulfilling \u2013 to realise simple acts of kindness can touch people so deeply, brighten their outlook and lift their spirits, and bring a whole new meaning to \u2018Happy Holidays\u2019. And in doing so, change their lives forever.\u201d<\/p>\n
To make this possible, she needs the help of local residents and organisations. \u201cClothes, juice and ingredients for hot dogs will be much appreciated,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n
