KOUGA Municipality is making it easier for communities to connect with their ward councillors.<\/p>\n
Ward assistants are now in place in all 15 wards.<\/p>\n
Kouga Speaker Hattingh Bornman said the ward assistants would serve as a link between communities, ward councillors and the municipality.<\/p>\n
\u201cDue to their work commitments, ward councillors cannot always be at their offices or in their communities,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe municipality has, therefore, appointed a ward assistant for each ward councillor so as to ensure that community members are helped promptly with their queries and complaints.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said most of the ward assistants were stationed at ward councillors\u2019 offices.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are also busy improving the existing ward councillors\u2019 offices and establishing ones in those wards that do not yet have these facilities.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bornman officially welcomed the ward assistants last week. Each assistant also received a badge to make it easier for community members to identify them.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome of the ward assistants have already been doing this work for a while. I would like to thank them for the manner in which they have been assisting their communities. Their efforts are noticed and apprecia-ted.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith their support, we look forward to strengthening the relationship between our communities, ward councillors, the Council and municipality as a whole.\u201d<\/p>\n
