{"id":52919,"date":"2020-03-19T06:02:44","date_gmt":"2020-03-19T04:02:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/kougaexpress\/netball-tournament-to-take-to-the-sand-20200318-2\/"},"modified":"2020-03-19T06:02:44","modified_gmt":"2020-03-19T04:02:44","slug":"netball-tournament-to-take-to-the-sand-20200318-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/kougaexpress\/netball-tournament-to-take-to-the-sand-20200318-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Netball tournament to take to the sand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SUN . . . surf . . . sand . . . and action-packed netball.<\/p>\n<p>The second annual Beach Netball Tournament, presented by the Sarah Baartman Netball Association, will take to the sand in Jeffreys Bay on Saturday, April 11.<\/p>\n<p>Sarah Baartman Netball Association Chairlady and event organiser, Anina Vlok, says, \u201cBeach netball is just like ordinary netball &#8211; but not as we know it. It is a combination of netball and the beach &#8211; my two loves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJeffreys Bay is the perfect location for beach netball, and we cannot wait to see you all kicking it on the sand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The tournament will see top netball teams from across South Africa battling it out in the four different categories: senior ladies (born 2000 and older), senior mixed (born 2000 and older) and junior girls (born between 2002 and 2007).<\/p>\n<p>A team must consist of no more than six players, with a maximum of three male players in the mixed team category. A maximum of four players and a minimum of three players will be allowed on the court at any given time.<\/p>\n<p>A player may dive on the sand to catch a ball on the full, or claim possession of a ball on the sand.<\/p>\n<p>Matches will be two five-minute halves, with a mi-nute interval between the halves.<\/p>\n<p>There will also be a three-minute break between the matches.<\/p>\n<p>Prize money to a total value of R15 000 will be up for grabs.<\/p>\n<p>The entry fee is R200 per team.<\/p>\n<p>Registration is at 08:00 on Saturday, April 11. Only registered and paid players will be allowed to play during the beach netball tournament.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, send an email to sarahbaartman@yahoo.com.
