WITH the current Covid-19 outbreak declared a national disaster by President Cyril Ramaphosa, some major local Kouga events have been cancelled or postponed owing to this public health crisis.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, Ramaphosa, among other things, introduced a strict travel ban and declared that schools closed yesterday instead of Friday, and to reopen only after the Easter holidays.<\/p>\n
On top of this, all gatherings of more than 100 people will be prohibited. <\/p>\n
\n Smhart Trails and Turbines<\/b>\n<\/p>\n
First on the lists of cancelled events are the second annual Smhart Trails and Turbines run that was scheduled to take place at the Jeffreys Bay Wind Farm on Saturday, April 4.<\/p>\n
\n JBay Wind Farm MTB Classic<\/b>\n<\/p>\n
Race organisers of the JBay Wind Farm MTB Classic have announced the cancellation of this much loved event due to emergency prohibitions for events and gatherings of more than 100 people.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are disappointed to have to cancel this event that brings our communities together each year, but due to the size of the event and the associated health risks, the event is not viable,\u201d said Pieter Oosthuizen, Managing Director of the Jeffreys Bay Wind Farm, title sponsors of the event.<\/p>\n
The eighth JBay Wind Farm MTB Classic and Trail Run was scheduled to take place at Twin Valley Estate on Saturday, June 13. <\/p>\n
\n Wine on Water<\/b>\n<\/p>\n
In support of measures announced to curtail the spread of the Covid-19 virus, the Rotary Club Of St Francis regrets to advise that the inaugural Wine On Water Festival \u2013 set to take place on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28 \u2013 will be postponed until later in the year when the situation has stabilised and circumstances permit the running of the event.<\/p>\n
Event organisers apologise for any inconvenience caused, and encourage ticket holders to retain their tickets for the rescheduled event.<\/p>\n

The monthly Marina Martinique Market has been cancelled, as well as the planned Handige Hande Fees that was set to take place at Eedenglen in Jeffreys Bay on Saturday, March 21. <\/p>\n
The action-packed Global Leadership Academy Trolley Pro, to take place on Saturday, April 25, has also came to a stop.<\/p>\n
