Photos:CHRIS SCOTT PHOTOGRAPHY<\/div>\n<div class=\"img_accreditation\"><span class=\"source\" style=\"display:none;\"><\/span><span class=\"photographer\" style=\"display:none;\"><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>MAIZE meal, sugar, rice, milk and eggs \u2013 and big smiles.<\/p>\n<p>Hundreds of less-privileged residents received much-needed food parcels last week amid the national lockdown period. <\/p>\n<p>A \u201cmiracle\u201d for hungry residents.<\/p>\n<p>The St Francis Rotary Club \u2013 in conjunction with the St Francis United Church, the local Disaster Volunteer Group (DVG) and the Samaritans \u2013 distributed 500 food parcels to residents in Sea Vista last week Wednesday and Friday. <\/p>\n<p>Each food parcel, at a cost of R200, contains essential products like maize-meal, sugar, eggs, rice, soup packets, flour, milk and oil.<\/p>\n<p>Sourced and assembled through the Village SuperSpar, the parcels were delivered to the various areas within the Sea Vista community \u2013 including the informal settlements \u2013 in over four hours. According to the DVG, it was made possible through the amazing efforts of the ten on-the-ground Sea Visa volunteers and community leaders in each area, who identified the recipients.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were working tirelessly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allow=\"encrypted-media\" allowtransparency=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"778\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fmedia%2Fset%2F%3Fset%3Da.3800677196641634%26type%3D3&#038;width=500\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden;\" width=\"500\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The DVG was, furthermore, assisted by the local police and Smhart Security.<\/p>\n<p>It is their goal to raise a minimum of R1.5 million for at least 7 500 food parcels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a long term project as the future is unknown. The good helpers are all volunteers, who expect nothing in return.
