C<\/span>AST your vote for Kareedouw.<\/p>\n

Kareedouw, the heart of KouKamma\u2019s agricultural industry, is in the running for the coveted Kw\u00eala<\/em> Town of the Year title for 2020. <\/p>\n

The town was named the winner of the Eastern Cape round of the annual competition \u2013 beating two of the province\u2019s well-known towns, Rhodes and Port Alfred, to claim the regional title.<\/p>\n

Wilna Moolman, the driving force behind the entry into the competition, said they were elated to have won the Eastern Cape round. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very excited that Kareedouw has been chosen to represent the Eastern Cape and would like to thank everyone who nominated the town,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She encouraged all residents \u2013 local and national \u2013 to throw their weight behind Kareedouw. <\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s take hands and ensure that Kareedouw is crowned the next Kw\u00eala Town of the Year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a beautiful part of the world, with lots to do and see for visitors,\u201d she said. \u201cShould Kareedouw win, it will not only be a victory for the town, but a boost for the whole Langkloof, including Joubertina, Krakeel, Louterwater and Misgund.<\/p>\n

Kareedouw will compete against Skukuza (Mpumalanga), Williston (Northern Cape), Port Edward (KwaZulu-Natal), Swellendam (Western Cape), Gariepdam (Free State), Tzaneen (Limpopo) and Heidelberg (Gau-teng).<\/p>\n

The Kw\u00eala<\/em> Town of the Year competition is run through DSTV\u2019s Kyknet channel and is now in its tenth year.<\/p>\n

It is open to all towns with a population smaller than 500 000 people in South Africa.<\/p>\n

The national winner will receive R1 million\u2019s worth of free marketing through kykNET<\/em>, while Kw\u00eala<\/em> will also host a massive celebration, featuring top artists and entertainment for the whole family, in the winning town.<\/p>\n

To vote:<\/p>\n

Simply SMS<\/strong> the full town name, Kareedouw, to 33157<\/strong>. SMSs cost R1.50 each and a maximum of 30 SMSs per cellphone will be counted.<\/p>\n

Voting opens at 19:00 on Sunday, August 9, and closes at 12:00 on Friday, August 14.<\/p>\n
