LOCAL residents, dressed in black, are set to embark on a peaceful protest this month \u2013 joining hands to unite against farm attacks and the murder of farmers nationwide.<\/p>\n
The protest, which forms part of the nationwide Black Monday action, will take place at Mentors Plaza in Jeffreys Bay on Sunday, October 25.<\/p>\n
Participants are asked to gather at Mentors Plaza from 08:00 on that day.<\/p>\n
A prayer will be said for all farmers at 10:15. After this the procession will depart on the 15km route.<\/p>\n
The convoy will drive down St Francis Street and turn left into Woltemade Street, from where it will proceed to Da Gama Road and the R102. Upon reaching the traffic circle at Fountains Mall, participants may disperse.<\/p>\n
The black garb serves to show victims of farm attacks and their family members that they are not forgotten.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe protest must also serve as an encouragement to farmers, highlighting the empathy of all involved,\u201d says organiser James Nunes.<\/p>\n
\u201cJoin us to change the future of our farmers, before it is too late. Let us stand together against violence and create awareness of the ongoing suffering in our country.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n Make a difference<\/b>\n<\/p>\n
Residents are requested to share the information with regard to the peaceful protest, as well as to sign the online petition in a bid to help make a difference \u2013 apart from attending the protest on the day.<\/p>\n
