Die week van 30 Mei tot 6 Junie is nasionale kinderbeskermingsweek. In die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens is daar \u2019n gespesialiseerde eenheid wat werk met misdade teen kinders. Die naam van hierdie eenheid is FCS (Family violence, sexual offences and\u00a0and Child protection unit). \u2018Kouga Express\u2019-korrespondent JOAN\u00c9 AZENHA<\/strong><\/span> het met Kaptein Nico Stander, bevelvoerder van hierdie eenheid in Kouga, gaan gesels oor hoe ouers hul kinders veilig kan hou.<\/h2>\n

\u201cDIT is baie belangrik om ten alle tye te weet waar jou kinders is. \u2019n Ongeluk gebeur in \u2019n oogwink.<\/p>\n

\u201cDit is ook belangrik om te weet waar jou kind laaste was in geval iets met hom of haar gebeur. Moet ook nooit jong kinders sonder toesig los nie, al is hulle net besig om te speel,\u201d het Kaptein Stander ges\u00ea. <\/p>\n

\u201cLeer jou kinders om altyd vir jou te vertel as iets gebeur het waarmee hulle nie gemaklik is nie, en rapporteer altyd insidente aan die regte owerhede, hetsy dit die skool, maatskap-like werker of polisie is.\u201d <\/p>\n

Hy het bygevoeg dat kinders van kleins af geleer moet word dat boeliegedrag onaanvaarbaar is, en dat iets nie snaaks is wanneer die \u201cgrap\u201d ten koste van iemand anders is nie. <\/p>\n

Stander het beklemtoon dat daar geen wagtydperk vir die melding van vermisde kinders in Suid-Afrika nie. Hoe gouer dit aangemeld word, hoe beter is die kans dat die vermisde kind gevind sal word. <\/p>\n

\u201cVermisde kinders, vermoede van geweld of verwaarlosing van kinders of enige ander misdrywe teenoor kinders moet onmiddellik aan die plaaslike polisie gerapporteer word, wat dit dan na FCS sal verwys. Skakel 10111 om insidente te rapporteer.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Suid-Afrika het alle mense regte en daar is sommige van hierdie regte wat spesifiek op kinders van toepassing is. Volgens ons grond-wet het alle kinders die reg op: <\/p>\n

  • \u2019n Naam, nasionaliteit, geloof en kultuur;<\/li>\n
  • Ouersorg, familie- en of gepaste alterna-tiewe sorg;<\/li>\n
  • \u2019n Veilige en gerieflike tuiste<\/li>\n
  • Gesonde kos en klere<\/li>\n
  • Onderwys, prim\u00eare en sekond\u00eare vlak;<\/li>\n
  • Spesiale sorg vir spesiale behoeftes;<\/li>\n
  • Om te praat en gehoor te word;<\/li>\n
  • Om privaatheid en hul eie besittings te h\u00ea;<\/li>\n
  • Om te speel en \u2019n kind te wees en hulle regte te ken.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Indien kinders nie van hierdie basiese regte voorsien word nie, is hulle moontlik verwaarloos of in gevaar en moet dit aan die nodige owerhede gerapporteer word. <\/p>\n

    Daar is ook sekere mense wat verplig is om hierdie dinge te rapporteer wanneer hulle bewus word daarvan. Hierdie sluit dokters, onderwysers, maatskaplike werkers en sielkundiges in.<\/p>\n
