<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nAround midday yesterday, members from Kouga Law Enforcement
\nwere patrolling on the N2, when they received a notification of a flagged
\nvehicle with CF registration number plates travelling past the Gamtoos Bridge
\ntowards Humansdorp.<\/p>\n
Police spokesperson, Sgt. Majola Nkohli, said that members
\nwaited for the vehicle and also contacted police in Jeffrey\u2019s Bay for
\nassistance. \u201cMoments later, a vehicle was spotted on the N2 and pulled off the
\nroad.\u00a0 The two occupants granted
\npermission for the vehicle to be searched and a 9mm Luger pistol with seven rounds
\nof ammunition was found stashed in a black small bag,\u201d Nkohli explained.<\/p>\n
“Preliminary investigation has revealed that the firearm was
\nreported stolen in Gelvandale 24 years ago in 1997,\u201d Nkohli added.<\/p>\n
The 61-year-old man and 28-year-old woman were arrested for the
\npossession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and will appear in the
\nHumansdorp Magistrates Court on Monday, August 23.<\/p>\n
Acting District Commissioner, Brig. John Lebok, said that the
\nadvancement in technology is positively contributing towards crime reduction. \u201cTechnology
\nincreases ways where suspects could be linked to crime scenes. Through advanced
\ntechnology, a criminal’s freedom will be curtailed and they will no longer be
\nable to run from the law,\u201d Lebok added.<\/p>\n
