AS part of an effort to make Jeffreys Bay a safer tourist town, One Village along with Kouga Municipality, Tourism and Kouga2gether is on a mission to keep cash off the streets of Jeffreys Bay. <\/p>\n

In order to do so, residents and businesses of JBay are encouraged to, instead of donating cash to those in need, to purchase and donate ticket books which can be redeemed for a meal, clothing or household items at One Village.<\/p>\n

One Village was founded by Sonya Hofler and Evelyn Markides and is situated at 30 Jeffreys Street. <\/p>\n

How it works:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Buy your One Village R5 ticket books in R50 or R100 booklets, stocked at One Village. <\/li>\n
  • Keep your book with you and hand out a page to anyone who asks for money for food. They can redeem this ticket for a cooked meal at One Village.<\/li>\n
  • Tickets can be redeemed for R2 sandwiches, R5 meals, clothing, blankets or household items.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    One of One Village founders, Sonya Hofler, said, \u201cPlease get involved with this initiative and make the difference in your community. No cash given means less chance of substance abuse. <\/p>\n

    \u201cAnything needed can be obtained at One Village and we can refer people to the correct associations or individuals for further needs. <\/p>\n

    \u201cIt is so exciting to see all of JBay enthusiasm and support for the R5 books, let\u2019s all be involved in getting cash of the streets and empowering our community.\u201d<\/p>\n

    One Village will have a stall at the Jeffreys Bay SuperSpar in Da Gama Road, tomorrow, Friday, August 27, in the late afternoon and at Fountains Mall (at the entrance at Mr Price Home) on Saturday, August 28 from 08:00 until 17:00. <\/p>\n
