{"id":49173,"date":"2022-03-24T09:25:31","date_gmt":"2022-03-24T07:25:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/kougaexpress\/be-a-water-hero-design-a-poster-20220323\/"},"modified":"2022-03-24T09:25:31","modified_gmt":"2022-03-24T07:25:31","slug":"be-a-water-hero-design-a-poster-20220323","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/kougaexpress\/be-a-water-hero-design-a-poster-20220323\/","title":{"rendered":"Be a water hero \u2013 design a poster"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Grab some paper, pens, and colourful crayons and put on your creative cap \u2013 and help spread the important water-saving message.<\/p>\n<p>Kouga Municipality invites all Grade 4 to Grade 7 learners from schools across the Kouga region to participate in a poster-making competition on the topic of water saving.<\/p>\n<p>The idea is for learners to reflect their understanding of saving water in the poster.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is a very big job for our water-saving mascot, Splash, to spread the water-saving message as far and wide as possible, and he cannot do it alone,\u201d said Kouga Executive Mayor, Horatio Hendricks. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWill you be his water warriors and help him out?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Hendricks, the municipality would like learners to design a poster to teach residents how to save water.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe poster needs to include tips on saving water,\u201d he said. \u201cYou can even include a superhero of your own.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A panel of judges will choose nine posters once entries have closed.<\/p>\n<p>The judges will also choose 10 wild card entries and the public will have to vote for their favourite poster on Facebook by means of \u201clikes\u201d, which will make up the 10th entry for the competition.<\/p>\n<p>Prizes<\/p>\n<p>The three schools with the most entries will each receive a water tank, while the \u201cartists\u201d of the five winning entries will each receive a Kouga Municipality hamper.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rules<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Only Grade 4 to Grade 7 learners in the Kouga region may enter.<\/li>\n<li>Learners may only enter once for the duration of the competition and only one poster per entrant will be allowed.<\/li>\n<li>The poster must reflect the theme of the competition (Save Water), be neat, organised and well presented.<\/li>\n<li>Please ensure that each poster is clearly marked on the back with the name of the school, name of the teacher, name of the learner, age of the learner and grade, as well as the contact details for the school. Unmarked posters will, unfortunately, not be judged.<\/li>\n<li>Qualifying entries will be uploaded in the Be a Water Hero \u2013 Save Water album on the Kouga Municipality Facebook Page. If a specific poster does not appear, it means it did not qualify.<\/li>\n<li>Entries open on Thursday, March 24, and the competition ends on Thursday, April 28, at 12:00.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Completed posters must be dropped off at Kouga Municipality at 33 Da Gama Road in Jeffreys Bay. Alternatively, the schools can contact Monique Basson at 082 219 9169 and the poster entries will be collected.<\/p>\n<p>Kouga Municipality will retain the posters on completion of the competition.
