Joshua Project is a registered non-profit drop-in centre for vulnerable children and youth, who are living on the streets.<\/p>\n
It was registered in 1998 and has since then provided basic services aimed at meeting the emotional, physical and social development needs of vulnerable children and youth in Jeffreys Bay and Humansdorp.<\/p>\n
It was with great excitement that, on April 8, Joshua Project Kareedouw officially opened its doors.<\/p>\n
Joshua Project Kareedouw focuses on vulnerable children who are in the streets and currently not in school.<\/p>\n
Karen Compaan-du Toit, founder of the Joshua Project, said, \u201cIn Matthew 19:14 it states: Jesus said, \u2018Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.\u2019 This verse is the driving force behind Joshua Project Kareedouw.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to Compaan-du Toit, there are already about 15 children attending the programme.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are open once a week at the moment but working towards opening twice a week soon.\u201d<\/p>\n
She added that Joshua Project operates with the help of volunteers from Kareedouw.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe hope and trust that more people will get involved in order for us to provide the necessary services to the children for five days a week in the near future. We believe that if the Kareedouw community takes hands, we will succeed in raising our children and give them a better future. As the saying goes, \u2018It takes a village to raise a child.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cI would like to thank all of Kareedouw\u2019s volunteers and members of the community, who decided to invest in the lives of the children by means of investing their time, giving and\/or preparing food, providing clothes, and furnishing our newly renovated building. We appreciate you,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
