posing as Eskom employees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eskom is cautioning Eastern Cape-based residents about a recent scam involving people impersonating Eskom staff\/contractors.<\/p>\n<p>The scammers call Eskom customers and claim to be instructed by Eskom to disconnect electricity due to overuse. <\/p>\n<p>Their aim is to gain access to customers\u2019 homes.<\/p>\n<p>According to a media statement released by Eskom, their staff and contractors always carry a work-order number specific to that house and an Eskom-issued identification card. <\/p>\n<p>In addition, both Eskom employees and contractors drive clearly branded cars.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny suspicious behaviour must be reported to the city\u2019s law enforcement agencies or to the police. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cCustomers should check the identification card before allowing anyone onto their property. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven when an ID is produced, customers are asked to never use a different bank account besides the one
