The Resort Trail Run, part of the global World Water Run, celebrated from 16 to 22 March worldwide, will take place on March19 and will start and finish at Cape St Francis Resort.<\/p>\n
According to race director, Eric Stewart, the event organised by St Francis Sport and hosted by the Cape St Francis Resort, will create awareness for the water crises the world is facing.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe race on 19 March will join the #worldwaterrun in the water awareness campaign, which is quite fitting as Kouga has been facing water challenges since 2017,\u201d said Stewart.<\/p>\n
He said that the Resort Trail Run also forms part of the second annual St Francis Amanzi Challenge, with Amanzi meaning water.<\/p>\n
The race will start at 08:00 at the Cape St Francis Resort and procede through the nature reserves of Cape St Francis. Runners can choose between 5km, 10km and 21km, while walkers are welcome in the 5km distance. <\/p>\n
Stewart said all runners are requested to dress in blue. He said that due to the sensitivity of the area no dogs are allowed. <\/p>\n
Online entries are open on EntryNinja and close on March 18 at 18:00. Stewart said that the first 50 online entries received before March 10 would each receive a special Amanzi Challenge t-shirt, and it will be blue in support of #worldwaterrun. <\/p>\n
The entry fees range from R50 to R180 for the 5km, 10km and 21km races, respectively.<\/p>\n
Apart from entering the race on EntryNinja, contestants are welcome to sign up for the campaign on www.worldwaterrun.com<\/span> where they will receive a virtual bib, certificate and a shirt design which they can have printed.<\/p>\n \u201cA portion of the proceeds will be donated to FOSTER, which looks after the nature reserves in Cape St Francis,\u201d said Stewart.<\/p>\n Number collection and late registration can be done at the Cape St Francis Resort on 18 March between 15:00 and 17:00 while number collection on 19 March is from 07:00, with race briefing at 07:45. <\/p>\n Stewart said that there will be water points where possible, but it is advised to be self-sufficient. He said the event is sponsored by the Cape St Francis Resort and Kouga Municipality, while the Amanzi Challenge is a joint venture between BS Sport and St Francis Tourism.<\/p>\n Stewart said that to end off the water crisis campaign on a high note, Mina Guli, a water warrior from #worldwaterrun will finish her 200th marathon in a year on the steps of the first ever UN Water Conference in New York
