Kouga Municipality is set to embark on a multi-million rand project to upgrade roads across the region over the next two years.<\/p>\n
Awarded to Imvula Roads and Civils, the first project to the value of over R17 million, is set to commence this week \u2013 optimising road infrastructure for all residents.<\/p>\n
The work to be carried out will mainly comprise pothole and road surface repair, resealing of roads, auxiliary roadworks, and construction of speed humps at predetermined sites. Areas identified for these upgrades are Jeffreys Bay, Humansdorp, St Francis Bay, Cape St Francis, Oyster Bay, Loerie, Hankey, and Patensie.<\/p>\n
During the first phase of the project \u2013 to be completed by end June 2023 \u2013 a total of approximately six kilometres of road will be resealed at a cost of R10 million. <\/p>\n
The first roads to be resealed during March are Swan Drive (work to start March 15, 2023) and Shearwater Drive (work to start March 17, 2023) in Aston Bay.<\/p>\n
This will be followed by St Francis Drive (work to start March 20, 2023) and Triton Street (work to start March 24, 2023) in St Francis Bay.<\/p>\n
More roads will be resealed during the remainder of the current financial year \u2013 ending June 2023. More information will follow.<\/p>\n
Kouga residents and road users are requested to practise patience and extreme caution when approaching the construction sites where the roadworks will take place.<\/p>\n
Kouga Executive Mayor, Horatio Hendricks, said maintaining and upgrading the region\u2019s roads are important to all residents.<\/p>\n
