{"id":47490,"date":"2023-03-23T10:42:12","date_gmt":"2023-03-23T08:42:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/kougaexpress\/local-rapper-performs-alongside-7de-laan-actor-in-music-video-20230322\/"},"modified":"2025-03-13T16:20:44","modified_gmt":"2025-03-13T14:20:44","slug":"local-rapper-performs-alongside-7de-laan-actor-in-music-video-20230322","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/kougaexpress\/local-rapper-performs-alongside-7de-laan-actor-in-music-video-20230322\/","title":{"rendered":"WATCH | JBay rapper performs alongside \u20187de Laan\u2019 actor in music video"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since his music career began five years ago, Humansdorp rapper, Kurt-Lee Hammond, has continued to make waves within the music industry, with his most recent project including performing alongside <span><em>7de Laan<\/em><\/span> actor and rapper Clint Aplon in a music video.<\/p>\n<p>Hammond, better known by his stage name, Die Twaalf, recently travelled to Worcester in the Western Cape where he featured in a music video titled <em>Afrikaans Laat Haar <\/em>Dans, alongside well-known actor, Aplon, who plays the role of Romeo in the popular Afrikaans television show <span><em>7de Laan<\/em><\/span>, and rapper Cream Machine.<\/p>\n<p>The single, which was released in March on all music streaming platforms, is part of Aplon\u2019s debut album, <em>Van \u2019n Klein Dorpie<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Hammond said meeting Aplon face-to-face was a great experience, after following <span><em>7de Laan<\/em><\/span> for many years.<\/p>\n<div contenteditable=\"false\" data-embed24=\"Images\" data-pos=\"middle\" id=\"embed_d110e934\">\n<div class=\"slide\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" data-smallsrc=\"https:\/\/cdn.24.co.za\/files\/Cms\/General\/d\/8603\/c7e9cc6fec4c4854a2c4b0a114f67474.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/kougaexpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/9ef09ea626624fdfb84f74d501fe86bf.jpg\" title=\"\u20187de Laan\u2019 actor and rapper Clint Aplon. \" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"caption\">\u20187de Laan\u2019 actor and rapper Clint Aplon. <\/div>\n<div class=\"img_accreditation\"><span class=\"source\" style=\"display:none;\"><\/span><span class=\"photographer\" style=\"display:none;\">Photo: Supplied<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>In addition to working alongside Aplon he said that it was amazing to create music with Cream Machine who has been pioneering Afrikaans hip-hop for years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI never thought by this stage in my music career I would be making music with Cream Machine and Clint. I cannot help but be amazed at how far I have actually come to be recognised by people I look up to,\u201d said Hammond.<\/p>\n<p>The album also features Afrikaans rapper, Loufi, who is one of Hammond\u2019s role models and contributed greatly as an inspiration when he began his music journey in 2018. <\/p>\n<p>As previously reported by <em>Kouga Exprees<\/em>, as a teenager Hammond began writing down his experiences in the form of poems to keep himself entertained, while his mother, Geraldine Hammond, was at work. <\/p>\n<div contenteditable=\"false\" data-embed24=\"YouTube\" data-pos=\"middle\" id=\"embed_2105b63d\"><iframe allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YtRk6gF2YvA\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>In 2018 he released his first single, titled <em>Een Kans<\/em>, and his popular song, <em>Kappedien, <\/em>in 2021, which has over 100 000 views on Die Twaalf\u2019s YouTube channel. <\/p>\n<p>While Hammond continues to work on his music career,he has collaborated on the albums of major artists such as Gqeberha-based Junior King Ferreira whose album, <em>No Loyalty<\/em>, was produced by Jeffreys Bay-based music producer Leolin Jeggels, better known as Oakley 808.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have since gained a lot of experience and met a lot of talented people helping me on my journey,\u201d said Hammond. <\/p>\n<p>As he continues to work on <em>Sonder \u2019n Sent<\/em>, his debut album which he plans on releasing later this year, he said he is currently working on his first single for the New Year alongside a music video, titled <em>Sy Soek<\/em> which will be released in April. <\/p>\n<p>The single will feature Fred den Hartog from Die Heuwels Fantasties, who will also produce the song as a Ghoema Music Award-winning producer. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cLate last year I was in studio in Stellenbosch where I got to meet Fred, and we immediately started working on music together,\u201d said Hammond. <\/p>\n<p>He said that releasing his own debut album was not his initial plan, and instead he is focused on recording individual tracks which will then form part of the album.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want to rush the process; you can\u2019t rush music. It being my first body of work, I want to make sure that there is something for everyone to listen to and enjoy,\u201d said Hammond.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to creating music, he also performed at the Kouga Summer Festival in December last year, where he shared a stage with Early B, and in April he plans to travel to Paarl in the Western Cape where he will attend the Afrikaanse Taal- en Kultuurvereniging (AKTV) workshop programme to learn more about the music industry. <\/p>\n<p>He also plans to use the opportunity to strengthen his network within the
