JBay Animal Rescue Sanctuary is a non-profit organisation located in Ocean View township in Jeffreys Bay, where over 80 animals are sterilised each month in the Jeffreys Bay Loerie, Thornhill, Kareedouw and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n

According to manager, Cindy Muller, spay days are very busy because pet owners have no means of dropping their pets off at their clinic.<\/p>\n

\u201cJbay Animal Rescue must collect each pet, do the sterilisation, and physically drive them back to their home,\u201d said Muller.<\/p>\n

\u201cAdvice is then given to the pet owner as to how to care for their recovering pets.\u201d<\/p>\n

Muller said that they focus on educating as many pet owners as possible to make the lives of the animals better. <\/p>\n

She said that this information includes tick and flea control, mange, diet and inoculations.<\/p>\n

To further add to the good work done in the community, Muller said that they have an outreach at their clinic each Thursday afternoon, and then once a month in the outlying areas, where the public can bring their pets if they have any concerns or can dip their pets to prevent fleas. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe are really trying to make a difference in the lives of the animals by helping people gain access to affordable dog food and treatment for their animals,\u201d said Muller.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are so many people out there who love their animals dearly, and all they need is a little helping hand to be able to provide them with food and shelter.\u201d<\/p>\n

Muller said that they do have many instances where animals are abused by their owners, which are sad cases that they must deal with.<\/p>\n

She said that they also spend time taking animals off chains and advising people that chaining animals is cruel.<\/p>\n

Muller further said that there are cases where animals are left at their gate, or they are asked to fetch unspayed dogs and their puppies.<\/p>\n

She said that they were recently asked to pick up Lulu, who was caged alongside her seven puppies since her owners were moving and could not take her with them.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, Muller said that all seven puppies have found homes.<\/p>\n

Lulu, however, is still in their care and they are hopeful that a loving family will come along and give her a good home.<\/p>\n

Also in their care is Scuffy, an 11-month-old male dog found on the side of the road, with no hair and in a terrible condition. <\/p>\n

Muller said that Scuffy is a loving dog and is ready to be a very loving, loyal companion.<\/p>\n

She said that they also have two cats, Tom cat, who previously stayed on a farm but had to be removed since there were big dogs on the premises, and Smokey, a beautiful grey, female cat whose owner did not want her any more. <\/p>\n

Muller said that Tom cat is loving and playful, while Smokey is a relaxed and happy cat who, like many other older cats and kittens, is looking for a home.<\/p>\n

She further said that all animals have been spayed.<\/p>\n
