Monday, July 3, this year.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cdry period\u201d takes place annually when the Gamtoos Irrigation Board closes off the irrigation canals for maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>Kouga Executive Mayor, Horatio Hendricks, said the towns of Hankey and Patensie received water for domestic use from the Gamtoos irrigation scheme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a result, their annual maintenance period impacts on the availability of domestic water to households and businesses,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>He said that water restrictions were already in place due to the ongoing drought, but cautioned that adherence to the restrictions would be more important than ever during the dry period.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe ask that residents and businesses make an extra effort to save water over this period,\u201d Hendricks
