After seeing the large amounts of citrus accumulating in the fields across our region last year, Samantha Huisamen decided that she would not allow this to happen again this year without trying to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.<\/p>\n

With the help of Engela Huisamen and Anene Jonck, they spent endless hours contacting various farms and packhouses to hear if they could donate their surplus citrus to be transported and donated to multiple organisations and community programmes across the Kouga region.<\/p>\n

A large donation of 11 tons of citrus (that filled up to 20 vehicles) was distributed via drop-off points in Jeffreys Bay, Humansdorp, St Francis, Thornhill and the Gamtoos.<\/p>\n

As well as a local pop-up soup kitchen operated by Herotel this past weekend that fed up to 1 000 people. They distributed some of the citrus to the less fortunate who visited the soup kitchen.<\/p>\n

After the success of this project, Huisamen would love to continue with this citrus drive, almost weekly, to bless the people of Kouga. That was only possible because of the strong team that was assembled during this project at short notice.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The biggest reward is seeing all the smiling faces of the people who can see that they are loved and cared for by people of their own community;that is why I want to keep on doing this. Being kind does not cost anything; it means the world to those who need kindness.<\/div>\n
