Kouga Municipality is proud to have played host to the exhilarating flag parade and opening ceremony of the 2023 Adventure Racing World Championship at St Francis Links on Tuesday, October 17. <\/p>\n
The event was a splendid display of unity and cultural richness, as the locals adorned themselves in colourful African attire to extend a warm welcome to international guests who have gathered to compete in the Kouga region. <\/p>\n
The festivities commenced with a stunning display of traditional African dancers, a soul-stirring choir performance, and the melodious tunes of a local marimba band, captivating the hearts of all in attendance for a full hour of entertainment. <\/p>\n
The flag parade was a symbol of global unity and sporting spirit for the participating teams. Athletes proudly carried their respective national flags, creating a display of diversity and harmony. Each flag bearer epitomised the pride and honour they felt in representing their nations on the international stage. <\/p>\n
Executive mayor, Hattingh Bornman, expressed his best wishes to all athletes and teams participating in the event. <\/p>\n

Adventure Racing World Championship<\/p>\n
The anticipation is building as 109 four-person teams gather at Cape St Francis Resort, diligently preparing for the 2023 Adventure Racing World Championship set to commence on Thursday, October 19. <\/p>\n
Hailing from 30 countries, these teams are set to tackle the challenging 800km course over nine days, showcasing their endurance in trekking, biking, and paddling relentlessly, day and night. Their journey to the starting line has been a monumental feat, and they all dream of triumphantly crossing the finish line of the World Championship course meticulously set by Expedition Africa. <\/p>\n
Adding to the excitement, a dedicated media team comprising 30 professionals from various corners of the globe will cover the event, ensuring that the world is connected to the action. Live GPS tracking through the SPOT tracking units carried by each team will offer a real-time view of their progress, with enthusiasts and supporters avidly following their journey across the course. <\/p>\n
The leaderboard will keep everyone updated on current rankings, capturing the intense competition as it unfolds. Live GPS tracking can be monitored via www.expafrica.live. <\/p>\n
