Thanks to many small donations, totalling R1.8 million, Rainbow Angels will expand to cater for an additional 18 children.<\/p>\n

Rainbow Angels, which was established in 2014, is a day care for severely handicapped children in Kruisfontein, Humansdorp, and is the only day care of its kind in the Kouga region.<\/p>\n

The day care forms part of Victory4All\u2019s educational centres, an organisation created by Johan Vos and his wife Astrid, almost 21 years ago.<\/p>\n

Vos said that Rainbow Angels, which currently has 18 children, is a day care for children with special needs, located at Rainbow Village in Kruisfontein.<\/p>\n

He said many of the children at the day care have cerebral palsy, and often struggle with spasms, deformities, and in some cases speech problems.<\/p>\n

In addition, Vos said they also have children with neuromuscular disorders such as spina bifida.<\/p>\n

He said that at the day care much attention is given to improving communication, motor, and general skills, primarily through playing. <\/p>\n

\u201cEvery child is stimulated on their own level, and every day is filled with different exercises, which include swimming, massages, playing with balls, and muscle training with standing tables and walkers,\u201d said Vos.<\/p>\n

In addition to this, he said they are also stimulated in many creative ways, through music and dance, and reading from the Bible and storybooks, which the children absolutely love.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome of the children can do simple maths and a few have actually already learned how to read. It\u2019s great to see how much they can learn and develop, even if it\u2019s with tiny steps at a time,\u201d said Vos.<\/p>\n

He said that they currently have two classrooms, and one room which is used for physiotherapy for the 18 children at the day care.<\/p>\n

Vos said that since they have a long waiting list of children who are severely handicapped, they are planning to expand the day care to further cater for the community.<\/p>\n

There is no other centre for severely handicapped children in the entire Kouga region, and there are many other children that we would like to show heaven on earth at our centre.<\/div>\n

He said that the expansion of the centre will be approximately 190 square metres, and will include two additional classrooms, a bathroom, and a storage facility.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, after hosting several fundraising events overseas, Vos said that they have managed to raise the necessary R1.8 million in funds, and expect to complete the expansion by August this year.<\/p>\n

With the expansion he said that they will be able to \u201cbless\u201d an addition 18 severely handicapped children.<\/p>\n
