{"id":45207,"date":"2024-03-25T12:30:12","date_gmt":"2024-03-25T10:30:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/kougaexpress\/sporting-codes-get-set-for-mayors-cup-finals-20240320\/"},"modified":"2024-03-25T12:30:12","modified_gmt":"2024-03-25T10:30:12","slug":"sporting-codes-get-set-for-mayors-cup-finals-20240320","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/kougaexpress\/sporting-codes-get-set-for-mayors-cup-finals-20240320\/","title":{"rendered":"Sporting codes get set for Mayor\u2019s Cup finals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kouga Municipality is gearing up for the thrilling culmination of the annual Kouga Mayor\u2019s Cup tournament, poised to captivate the region this coming April.<\/p>\n<p>Following the triumph of 2023, this year\u2019s Mayor\u2019s Cup is set to grow, with a prize pool of R350 000, and a total of 19 sporting codes competing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe tournament will once again witness the finest netball, rugby, soccer, cricket, golf, and tennis talents in the region competing for top honours,\u201d said Kouga executive mayor, Hattingh Bornman. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAdditionally, bowls, running, darts, chess, and skateboarding, will add to the excitement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fishing, touch rugby, and gymnastics concluded their final matches earlier in March.<\/p>\n<p>The matches will take place at different venues across the region, to allow as many community members as possible the opportunity to participate and support the programme.<\/p>\n<p>Reflecting on the success of previous years, where themes such as \u201cShaping the Future\u201d in 2022 and \u201cBreaking Barriers\u201d in 2023 fostered unity and excellence in the Kouga region, Bornman said that confidence is high for collective efforts towards a common cause.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe focus of this year\u2019s Mayoral Cup is to establish a benchmark for the growth of this prestigious event in the Kouga region.
