Following the success of the expansion of her holiday programme to cater for children in various small towns in Kouga over the last two years, Hazel Booysen, founder of the Hankey homework centre, Tutor Spot, is planning to host a holiday programme for children at two different farms in the area, from June 24 to 28.<\/p>\n

Booysen initially began offering homework assistance to children in Hankey from her back yard in 2019, but quickly realised that many children from surrounding areas also needed assistance.<\/p>\n

In 2022 she established a holiday programme for children in Hankey, and then gradually moved to Patensie, Andries Kraal, and Quagga.<\/p>\n

Booysen said the holiday programme hosted in Patensie in July last year was a great success, with over 50 children in attendance.<\/p>\n

She further said they found that many children from surrounding farms had joined the holiday programme in Patensie.<\/p>\n

As a result, Booysen said that this year she would offer the holiday programme to children in Kleinrivier and Kleinfontein, two isolated farms located a few kilometres from Hankey.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to accommodate the children from these farms to offer our assistance. There is a great need for a holiday programme in these areas,\u201d said Booysen.<\/p>\n

\u201cI cannot turn a blind eye and not help these children.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thankfully, she said they have received many donations of food, stationery, and workbooks, and are therefore prepared with all the necessary essentials.<\/p>\n

She said they had received donations from Pep Patensie, FNB, and various other donors. <\/p>\n

Booysen said she is grateful for the assistance she has received from the manager of Pep Patensie, Shanel Swepu, who is always willing to assist Tutor Spot.<\/p>\n

She further said that even though they have all the essential items for the holiday programme, she hopes to receive reading books for the children.<\/p>\n
