In a powerful collaboration, Oasis FM and Beats and Books, two non-profit organisations, will co-host an inspiring Women\u2019s Day High Tea event on August 3 at Newton Hall in Jeffreys Bay. <\/p>\n
This exciting gathering will feature a lineup of both local and international motivational speakers, all set to share their insights and spark meaningful connections among attendees, ultimately uplifting and celebrating the women in their community.<\/p>\n
Established by Bernadette Swartz and her husband, Andr\u00e9, in 2018, Oasis FM is a Christian community radio station which is licensed for the Sarah Baartman District, with their main studio based in Jeffreys Bay.<\/p>\n
Broadcasting in Afrikaans, English, and Xhosa, Oasis FM\u2019s mission is to provide a platform for relevant programming, aimed at bringing hope, restoring values, and educating listeners.<\/p>\n
The Beats and Books organisation is also based in Jeffreys Bay.<\/p>\n
Initially established in 2011 by Cornelius Ngosa, the organisation aims at facilitating community transformation by creating enabling environments where children thrive musically, intellectually, and spiritually.<\/p>\n
To raise awareness about the two organisations, Swartz and Ngosa\u2019s wife, Primadonna, who has assisted her husband in running Beats and Books for many years, will host the Women\u2019s Day event as a joint collaboration.<\/p>\n
\u201cWomen\u2019s Month allows us to celebrate women. We chose to host this event during Women\u2019s Month to motivate and uplift women through this high tea. The guest speakers that we chose are all specialists in their field, who will share their knowledge with the ladies so that we can give the ladies the tools to live their lives to the fullest,\u201d said Swartz.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis event is centred on empowerment, education, cultural exchange, networking and community engagement. It aims at equipping participants with the tools, resources, and inspiration to thrive personally and professionally in business.\u201d<\/p>\n
International guest speakers, travelling with Beats and Books\u2019 global partner, Grace Klein Community, an NPO based in Birmingham Alabama, USA, will include Dr Juliet Arrington (The American Academy for Young Professionals), Clarissa Kenty (iCu Media), Elyse Jordan (Shades Valley High School), Lisa Worley (Anchor Pardue Insurance), Jenny Waltman (Grace Klein Community), Dr Jewel Littleton (Learning Little People), Natalie King (Grace Klein Community), Stacia Gaines (Ivy & Apollo, LLC) and Kathy Boswell (B. Intentional, LLC).<\/p>\n
Local guest speakers will include Melanie van Wyk (Byoot\u00e9 by Melanie van Wyk), Joy Lange (Women Empowerment Activist), Yolanda Jordan (Leadership Development & Global Worship), Anzel de Beer (The Butterfly Foundation), and Maxine Theart (First Light Coffee).<\/p>\n
Swartz said once the presentations have concluded the guest speakers will participate in a panel discussion.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, there will be various exhibitions on display, such as Cakes of Joy, Moments of Grace, Be Original, Female Friday, Girls Connect, Justine Beauty Products, Byoot\u00e9 by Melanie van Wyk, Treasure Cave Products, The Butterfly Foundation, Smart Maths, Marked by Light and Lusanda\u2019s Perfumes.<\/p>\n
Swartz said they are also encouraging their guests to bring along donations of sanitary products, toiletries, or a new medium-sized brassiere which will be donated to Female Friday and Girls Connect, which are two local organisations dedicated to supporting young girls in primary schools through regular outreaches.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis event aims at shining a spotlight on Oasis FM and Beats and Books, while raising essential funds for both organisations. However, the event\u2019s charitable reach will be even broader, as Female Friday and Girls Connect will also be recipients of donations, resulting in a four-way benefit that amplifies the impact and supports a shared mission of empowering women and girls,\u201d said Swartz.<\/p>\n
Although this marks the inaugural high tea event hosted by Oasis FM and Beats and Books, she said they hope to host the event again to celebrate women.<\/p>\n
\u201cWomen are not celebrated enough. Through events like these we can focus on women at least one day, and spoil them so that they know they are appreciated,\u201d said Swartz.<\/p>\n
She said both organisations would like to thank all the sponsors who have bought into the vision for the event as their contributions make a difference in the community. <\/p>\n
In addition to the high tea event, Swartz said the international guest speakers through Beats and Books will also host various workshops, one-on-one sessions and discussions throughout August where they will share their knowledge with local people.<\/p>\n
She said the dates, times, and venues, for the workshops will be shared on the Oasis FM and Beats and Books Facebook pages.<\/p>\n
Tickets for the high tea cost R150 per person and the event will begin at 09:30.<\/p>\n
