Born and raised in Patensie, Tinus Galant has captivated audiences with his detailed paintings that celebrate African landscapes and cultural heritage. Tinus\u2019s journey into the world of art is as inspiring as his works themselves. <\/p>\n

Starting his schooling journey at Quagga Primary, followed by Patensie and Hankey Primary Schools, Tinus later attended Chatty Secondary School, where he completed Grade 11. Even in his early years, his artistic potential shone through; he won his first art competition while still a primary school student in the Eastern Cape. The following year, he won a literary prize in Die Oosterlig<\/span> (now Die Burger<\/span>) essay competition, showcasing his creativity beyond just the visual arts. <\/p>\n

After school, Tinus joined the South African Defence Force (SADF) in 1990, where he trained as a Culinary Chef. Following his military service, he served part-time with the Humansdorp Commando before fully dedicating himself to the arts. <\/p>\n

In 2002, he co-founded the Kouga Arts Committee (now the Kouga Arts Council), giving local artists a platform to share their work. His first formal exhibition took place during the launch of the Kouga Cultural Centre, marking the beginning of his public journey as an artist. <\/p>\n

Tinus\u2019s artistic approach took on new dimensions when he connected with well-known artist, Stanley Grootboom. Under Grootboom\u2019s mentorship, Tinus honed his skills in contrast, detail, and texture\u2014factors that now make his pieces truly stand out. His participation in the esteemed Brett Kebble Art Awards further underscored his commitment to advancing his craft. His dedication paid off in 2008 when he received the Kouga Mayoral Award for Arts and Culture. <\/p>\n

His latest works are on display at The Bistro restaurant, where the community can witness his stunning portrayals of African scenery and culture firsthand. Tinus also accepts commissioned work, creating custom pieces upon request. <\/p>\n
