Thanks to the generosity of local residents, the communities of Oyster Bay and Umzamowethu have successfully erected a new name board, reflecting the area\u2019s unique identity.<\/p>\n

Riekie Pienaar, Chairperson of the Oyster Bay Residents\u2019 Association, said that the former name board\u2019s bright blue colour made it a well-known landmark, frequently used by visitors as a backdrop for photographs.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople visiting the town often took pictures in front of the name board to tell their family and friends that they were here,\u201d said Pienaar.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, she said, the previously vibrant sign had deteriorated significantly, prompting the need for a replacement that would endure for years to come.<\/p>\n

She said that residents then rallied together to contribute towards the installation of a brick-built name board, complemented by surrounding plant life.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted to build a structure that would last forever and not deteriorate over time,\u201d said Pienaar.<\/p>\n

Finally, after the construction of the name board was complete, the community of Oyster Bay and Umzamowethu gathered earlier this month for the official unveiling of the board located on the corner of Oyster Avenue and Umzamowethu Road.<\/p>\n

Pienaar said that everyone was appreciative of the new structure.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a good thing for the community, and it was done with money from the pockets of the residents. Everyone loves the new name board,\u201d said Pienaar.<\/p>\n

She said that she looks forward to seeing the new name board become a beloved landmark, where visitors and locals can take beautiful pictures.<\/p>\n

Pienaar extended heartfelt gratitude to the community for their generous donations supporting the construction of the new name board, and specially acknowledged Rufus Dreyer for graciously permitting the use of a portion of his land for the new structure.<\/p>\n

She further thanked Bouwen Schellingerhout for the building plans, time, and hard work he put into the project.<\/p>\n
