After hosting a successful fundraising event in December 2024, with Dirk Ellis Volkswagen as the main sponsor, the Rotary Club of St Francis recently handed over a cheque for R75 000 to St Francis Hospice Kouga. <\/p>\n
St Francis Tourism co-organised the event.<\/p>\n
As previously reported, the Rotary Club of St Francis chose St Francis Hospice as the beneficiary of their fundraising initiative, The 6312 Amazing Race, four years ago. <\/p>\n
The event required participants to navigate 23 checkpoints in their vehicles, completing diverse challenges within ten-minute time frames.<\/p>\n
Sisters Ingrid Williams and Nadine Puzicha from St Francis Hospice for the Kouga region were formally presented with the proceeds from The Amazing Race for 2024 by the Rotary Club of St Francis in January this year. <\/p>\n
The final tally for the event was an amazing R75 000, with Dirk Ellis Volkswagen contributing R20 000 to the cause.<\/p>\n
On behalf of Dirk Ellis, Marketing Manager Werner van Wyk accepted a framed Certificate of Appreciation from St Francis Rotarian and event organiser, Errol Burman.<\/p>\n
Burman expressed heartfelt thanks to Dirk Ellis Volkswagen and all the generous sponsors who sponsored the checkpoints, as well as an amazing array of prizes.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo all the wonderful competitors who made up 28 team entries and raced through the morning with such great joy and enthusiasm, thank you for supporting this event for such a worthy cause,\u201d said Burman.<\/p>\n
Williams, Manager of St Francis Hospice Kouga, said that the staff of St Francis Hospice are grateful for the ongoing support given by St Francis Rotary. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe Amazing Race was not only a fabulous event for all those who participated, but also the funds raised are vital in enabling the nurses to continue providing care and support to their patients and their loved ones,\u201d said Williams.<\/p>\n
She further mentioned that the funds received go towards providing equipment and contributing towards medication and medical supplies. <\/p>\n
Williams also said that the funds are used for petrol to enable the nurses to reach their patients.<\/p>\n
