EASTERN CAPE – <\/strong>As South Africa marks Youth Month, Sergeant Siphosethu Tyuwa, a Drone Operator and Airborne Law Enforcement Officer (ALEO) based at the Bulembu Air Wing in the Eastern Cape, is among the young South African Police Service (SAPS) members highlighted for their role in supporting policing operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Born in Peddie and a former learner at Nomzamo High School, Tyuwa holds a Financial Management diploma from Port Elizabeth College and a Bachelor of Applied Social Sciences degree in Psychology and Counselling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She joined SAPS in March 2015 and has since specialised in drone operations and airborne law enforcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her role, she supports ground units with real-time aerial surveillance, intelligence gathering, and search-and-rescue operations across parts of the Eastern Cape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOperating drones is more than just flying. It\u2019s about saving lives, preventing crime, and delivering justice from the skies,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her work includes monitoring large public gatherings, assisting with farm patrols, and supporting operations in areas that are difficult to access on foot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tyuwa is also involved in promoting gender transformation within law enforcement, encouraging greater participation of women in specialised policing fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Youth Month is commemorated, SAPS says young officers like Tyuwa represent the next generation of policing in South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
