JEFFREYS BAY<\/strong> – Twenty-three participants competed in the Potjiekos Competition at Pharos School, Jeffreys Bay, on 7 February, while families cheered and children enjoyed entertainment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With festive music creating the perfect atmosphere, this community event delivered an ideal blend of culinary competition, family fun, and local spirit for everyone to enjoy.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marenda Venter, event organiser and teacher at Pharos School, said that the Kouga Municipality certainly set the bar high at the Potjiekos Competition by entering 11 teams and proudly walking away with all three prizes.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said that Team Gusha took first place with their outstanding lamb pot, winning Tsitsikamma Canopy Zipline vouchers, while Team Spetsnaz claimed second place, earning a Lombardini game drive and Rhino experience.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bringing the vibe and the visuals, Team Stirring Legends won Best Team Spirit and Stall Display, walking away with a Pili Pili meal voucher.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“What a fantastic showing of skill, flavour, and team spirit,” said Venter.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She further said that the competition judges had no easy task and therefore deserve special recognition.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Not only did the judges have to choose a winner from such strong competition, but tasting so many incredible dishes was a huge task. Their dedication and brave taste buds truly helped make the day a success,” said Venter.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said that the entertainment was expertly organised and hosted by Pharos School’s parents and teachers, and they truly outdid themselves.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Venter said that the children had an exciting morning, enjoying all the different games on offer, with the waterslide being a huge hit.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For many, swimming in the dam was a first-time adventure, making the day even more memorable and special.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This event will become an annual highlight hosted early in February, with huge potential to grow and bring the town together for a day of fun, connection, and community spirit,” said Venter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
