JEFFREYS BAY<\/strong> – The annual USN JBay Touchies, which has been referred to as the best touch rugby tournament in South Africa, will see 36 teams from all over the country battle it out on Jeffreys Bay Main Beach on 26 December from 08:00 to see who the 2025 Kings of the Beach will be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tournament began in 2018 and is now in its eighth year, with USN as the main sponsor, and is now a fixture in JBay’s December calendar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christo Botha, event organiser for USN, said that spectators can expect fast and furious touch rugby with non-stop action on the two fields on Main Beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said that there will be three different leagues: a pro league, a women’s league, and a social league for the holiday teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As in previous years, the highlight of the tournament will be the game between the JBay Rugby Club Legends and Kouga Municipality Legends,” said Botha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This game will be at 14:00 and live streamed on Facebook page 1Touch.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said that there will be lots of freebies for everyone on the beach, making it possible for all the sponsors to be involved in the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Christian Ellis trophy for the referee of the tournament is also once again up for grabs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Botha said that the event is a celebration of the Kouga communities and is well supported by the local communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The current pro league champions, the Blues from Jeffreys Bay, will be participating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, he said that Metrofibre and Kouga Municipality had joined hands and sponsored 16 local teams with fully sublimated clothing for the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The touch rugby tournament is a JBay tradition on 26 December, and keeping it alive is very important for USN,” said Botha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cost is R150 per team of eight players, but is limited to 36 teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Botha said that entries open on 1 December, and all ages, genders and sizes are welcome to enter a team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Only 36 slots are available, and it is therefore important for participants to enter immediately to avoid disappointment,” said Botha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prize giving and afterparty will once again be at Je Vista Social Caf\u00e9, which is another highlight of the event with lots of prizes and cash up for grabs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Botha has thanked USN, the Kouga Municipality and the 30 other sponsors for their support towards the success of the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fidelity\/ADT and Relay EMS will also be present on the day to ensure that everyone is safe at the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
