JEFFREYS BAY<\/strong> – Across the Kouga region, bakers and volunteers have spent hours perfecting recipes and creating amazing toppers to awe and inspire you at the National Cupcake Day 4 Kids with Cancer event in aid of Cupcakes of Hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On 27 September, the much-anticipated National Cupcake Day 4 Kids with Cancer will be taking place at 74 malls around the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fountains Mall, Jeffreys Bay will be the local venue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This annual event has taken place since 2012 to raise funds for Cupcakes of Hope, a non-profit company and public benefit organisation that provides assistance and support to families of children diagnosed with cancer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jeffreys Bay has been involved since the first year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2012, they registered the non-profit Cupcakes of Hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since then, via the community-driven National Cupcake Days, over R10 million has been raised to provide ongoing support for thousands of young cancer patients and their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This includes covering their medical bills and other essential needs, from nappies to nutrition and everything in between.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oncologists, hospitals, social workers, and hospices all contact Cupcakes of Hope with requests to assist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also assist with requests from the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA)’s Tough Living with Cancer (TLC) programme that focuses on supporting the parents and caregivers of young cancer patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anina Meiring, CANSA Childhood Cancer Service Manager, said, “The partnership provides continued support for us, helping with several care and support packs for our little ones and parents.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cupcake Angels (volunteer bakers) are the foundation that supports everything that is done via the NPO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located around the country, they make and sell cupcakes and donate the funds to Cupcakes of Hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Janelle Stokker, Coordinator for the Fountains Mall event, thanked the following businesses for donating ingredients. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Without them, the event would not be as successful as it is. Thank you to Pick n Pay, Fountains Mall, Jeffreys Bay SuperSpar, PE TimberHomes, Stokker & Associates, St Helena Bay Spar and Woodlands Dairy\/First Choice.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
