The Koukamma Municipality is deeply saddened by the untimely death of one of its councillors, Smilo Danny-Boy Ncethezo.
Councillor Ncethezo performed his responsibilities as Ward 5 councillor in Koukamma and diligently represented Koukamma Municipality.
Speaker of Council, Councillor Dudley Maasdorp, said it was Ncethezo’s dedication to the people that earned him the people’s confidence to lead and represent their aspirations. “His passing on is a sad loss for the municipality and the entire community that he served with courage and zeal. He has indeed proven beyond doubt that he had the required capacity to selflessly fight for the development of the community and the municipality.
“He was very experienced and gave guidance at council meetings; we definitely learnt a lot from him,” said Maasdorp.
Mayor of Koukamma Municipality, Cllr Fuzile Jan Yake, said, “Ncethezo was an open councillor; he was very fond of the community, and a dedicated team member, as well as someone who loved taking a challenge.
“In his departure, he takes with him a wealth of experience and knowledge to move the municipality forward. The municipality takes this opportunity to express its sorrow and conveys its heartfelt condolences on behalf of the entire Council and Administration of Koukamma Municipality, to the Ncethezo family, friends and his political home.”
The funeral of the late Smilo Danny-Boy Ncethezo will take place at his home in Woodlands, on Saturday, April 15.
