A FORT Beaufort-born woman, Rowelna Williams, has put this small rural town on the map by having been part of the bid team who travelled with the Sports Minister, Tokozile Xasa, to Singapore in December last year to make their presentation for South Africa to host the prestigious Netball World Cup. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was announced last week that South Africa would be hosting this event in 2023 in Cape Town. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is the first time any African nation has been chosen as the host country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rowelna was born in Adelaide and attended Hertzog Primary and Newton Primary Schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She later matriculated from the Winterberg Agricultural High School in Fort Beaufort. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She obtained her B. Drama degree at the University of Stellenbosch and later a Sports Management degree at Nelson Mandela University. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She is currently employed by the Cape Town City council and also works for FIFA on a contract basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She was a talented netball player at high school. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rowelna expressed her elation at the continent winning the first ever Netball World Cup for Africa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
