A GROUP of cyclists from Cradock recently decided to join forces to create a project to uplift the socially and economically disadvantaged communities in their home town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to their spokesperson, Sandiswe James, they are all keen cyclists and decided to undertake cycle tours from East London to Cradock, a distance of 280.2km, in an effort to collect money to be distributed among schools in Cradock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
James said they felt that this project coincided with the local municipality\u2019s vision which aims at putting people first and providing a better life for all citizens as it promotes social and economic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have just completed our second year with this project and are happy to announce that last year we managed to raise R70 000, but have set higher targets for this year,\u201d James said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The cycle group left East London on October 5 and arrived in Cradock on October 7. The group consisted of five men: Luvuyo Mali, Zwai Nomandla, Tex Mntambo, Bongani Letlaka, Joe Jongile, as well as Amanda Namba, the first-ever lady to join the group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTo reach these targets we need assistance from everyone and anyone and we believe any assistance would help immensely. The schools we are targeting this year are A.B.
