style=\"display:none;\"><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>A BRAND-NEW, albeit small, preschool has opened at Bloemhof. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The farm, situated in the Golden Horseshoe of the Sundays river, used to boast a thriving farm school, but it was unexpectedly closed by the Department of Education about two years ago. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe were very sad when that announcement came,\u201d said Julian Murray, who lives on the historical farm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe implications are that children now battle to make the transition from the farm environment straight into big school, especially being in town and away from home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have realised that we need a facility to prepare these little children to go to big school.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Murray, the preschool is still very informal, having a couple of parents coming in to the school two or three times a week to oversee the children and let them play and draw and read them some stories. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re just hoping to see the little school grow steadily and improve the lives of these children,\u201d Murray told <em>Komani-Karoo Express<\/em>.
