AFTER two months of inactivity due to the Corona virus Pandemic, the South African Football Association (SAFA) made an announcement that amateur football, which includes the Sasol League, can now be played again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first ball was kicked two weeks ago after the league was stopped with only six matches having been played per team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The two Chris Hani District-based ladies\u2019 football teams playing under South African Football Association (SAFA) in the Provincial Sasol Women\u2019s League Cumakala Ladies of Cacadu and Eluhewini Ladies of Engcobo will be determined to bounce back in the league following an unsuccessful weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cumakala Ladies\u2019 FC was playing away against Executive Ladies in Lusikisiki and lost the game 1-0 while Eluhewini Ladies played out to a goalless draw against Eastern Rangers Ladies also from Lusikisiki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After that loss Cumakala was relegated to fourth place in the log from third place while Eluhewini remain in sixth place after the draw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Providing some insight into the start of the season, Eluhewini Head Coach, Dumisani Gcina, offered objective viewpoints on challenges the club is facing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are trying our best. We have had a good start but it can be very hard to maintain. The depth of the Eastern Cape province takes its toll on you,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Head Coach, who is also a teacher, elaborated on the above statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is extremely difficult in terms of transportation and the long distances between cities and towns. Many of our players are doing matric which is very difficult for them to be available for games and training. This means that availability of players takes a hit. Sometimes we take the pitch with inexperienced players, but on a positive note we are developing them,\u201d said the coach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This Saturday Eluhewini will be on the road playing against Ayakha Stars in Mthatha while Cumakala will be at home welcoming Eastern Rangers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
