The Cradock Magistrates Court has
\nhanded down a 10-year sentence to two males convicted of theft and damage to
\nessential infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to police spokesperson Captain Lariane
\nJonker, the two suspect aged 20 and 24 were apprehended on September 7 by
\nmembers of the visible policing unit performing night patrolling on Nxenye
\nStreet in the Lingelihle locality of Cradock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The suspects were found to be in
\npossession of Eskom copper cable with a street value of R4000-00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOfficers stopped next to what
\nthey thought were two suspicious looking gentlemen standing next to a streetlight.
\nUpon investigation, a piece of cut copper cable and pliers were found in the
\nsuspects possession leading to their immediate arrest,\u201d said Jonker. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acting District Commissioner
\nBrigadier Mabel Magqashela sang praise to the collective efforts of the
\ninvestigators and the prosecuting team that led to this conviction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also added that the theft of
\nnon-ferrous metal and the detrimental effect that this has on the country\u2019s
\neconomy and infrastructure remains a priority focus area of the police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
