Steynsburg-based
\nAmavarara Football Club have been crowned Eastern Cape Champions of the ABC
\nMotsepe League after beating Gqeberha\u2019s Peace Makers Football Club in the final
\ngame of the Provincial 2022\/23 ABC Motsepe League season at Mthatha Stadium on
\nSaturday afternoon, 15 April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amavarara came into the final game as the Champions of
\nEC ABC Motsepe League Stream A after second placed Sinenkani FC failed to close
\na 5-point gap at the top, while Peace Makers had to wait for the last game to win
\nStream A with one point, second placed FC Siyanda breathing in their neck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former Ezibeleni-based side will be representing
\nthe Eastern Cape Province at the upcoming ABC Motsepe League National playoffs
\nscheduled for 5 to 9 June 2023 at a province to that will be confirmed
\nduring the course of the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amavarara Chairman, Akhona Pele ,who is one of the youngest chairpersons in
\nthe province after buying the team at the end of 2021\/22 season, said it is time for the team to be promoted to the Professional level of the South
\nAfrican football.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are over the moon as a club to be where we are now
\nbecause it was a difficult season for us. You will remember the team relocated
\nto Joe Gqabi Region and the players had to familiarise themselves with the new
\nenvironmental and that is not easy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut now we believe it is our time to lift this
\nprovince and participate in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. It is not done
\nyet, we still need to work hard at the National Playoffs before reaching the
\ngoal but we believe with the talent we have in the team we can achieve that. As
\nthe Chairman of the team I will support the technical team with everything to
\nachieve our goal,\u201d said Pele.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This will not be the first Amavarara representing the
\nEastern Cape this season. In February they travelled to Gauteng to face PSL
\nside TS Galaxy in the last 32 of Nedbank Cup where they impressed Galaxy coach
\nSead Ramovic from Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
