{"id":67016,"date":"2025-04-02T13:50:27","date_gmt":"2025-04-02T11:50:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/hermanustimes\/?p=67016"},"modified":"2025-04-02T13:50:30","modified_gmt":"2025-04-02T11:50:30","slug":"ng-gemeentes-in-caledon-word-een","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/hermanustimes\/ng-gemeentes-in-caledon-word-een\/","title":{"rendered":"NG gemeentes in Caledon word een"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Mitzi Buys\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die NG Moedergemeente in Caledon bestaan al 214 jaar, wat dit, naas Swellendam, die tweede oudste gemeente in die Overberg maak. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Sien <em>Hermanus Times<\/em> 21 Junie 2021: &#8220;Caledon-Moedergemeente vier 210&#8221;.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die Caledon-Wes-gemeente, daarenteen, sou op 21 Oktober 52 jaar oud wees. Die laaste nagmaal as een gemeente saam is op 2 Oktober 1973 gehou. Die Wes-gemeente het aanvanklik in die Moedergemeente se kerksentrum dienste gehou totdat die Wes-kerk in Joubertstraat op die ou tronkperseel voltooi en op 30\u2009April 1978 in gebruik geneem is. Di\u00e9 twee gemeentes het Sondag 2\u2009Maart weer saam nagmaal gevier n\u00e1 die eenwording van die twee gemeentes op 1\u2009Maart.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hermanus Times het met dominees Awie Brand, Dewald du Toit en Willem Lubbe, die drie leraars van die NG kerk Caledon, soos dit nou bekendstaan, oor die eenwording gesels. &#8220;Die idee van eenwording kom al &#8216;n lang tyd aan, met die eerste gesprek daaromtrent reeds 11 jaar gelede, maar die gemeentes was nog nie reg daarvoor nie en die proses is gestop,&#8221; s\u00ea Lubbe. &#8220;Lank daarna is weer elke nou en dan daaroor gepraat en drie jaar gelede is gesprekke daaroor in die dagbestuurvergaderings gevoer. Die Wes-gemeente se kategese was reeds by die Moederkerk en van daar af het die proses eintlik begin,&#8221; s\u00ea Lubbe.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lubbe s\u00ea dit is glad nie &#8216;n kwessie van nie genoeg lidmate in die twee gemeentes nie. &#8220;Dis &#8216;n geestelike-gebeure-gesprek. Dis &#8216;n plek waar ons besef het dis die roete wat die Here vir ons wil h\u00ea, om as twee gemeentes saam &#8216;n beter getuienis in ons gemeenskap te dra. Dit was &#8216;n proses waar ons uit gehoorsaamheid eintlik ges\u00ea het dit is wat die Here wil h\u00ea ons moet doen. Vanuit gebed het ons begin beweeg. Ons het eers lank gebid of d\u00edt is wat ons moet doen. Ons het nie nodig gehad om dit te doen nie. Dit is nie &#8216;n noodsaaklikheid by een van die twee gemeentes nie \u2013 nie finansieel nie en ook nie getalle-gewys nie. Dit was hoe die Heilige Gees ons gelei het. Ons kan dinge beter saam doen as apart,&#8221; s\u00ea Lubbe.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brand, wat vir 31 jaar die bediening by die Wes-kerk gelei het, s\u00ea: &#8220;Ons het wel &#8216;n klein groepie by die Wes-gemeente gehad wat gevoel het alles sal anders wees \u2013 &#8216;n nuwe kultuur, nuwe omgewing, nuwe gebou, hul stilhouplek, hul sitplek \u2013 dat die manier van die erediens gaan verander&#8230; alles goed wat hulle gevrees het hulle moet prysgee. Maar die Here is mos eintlik &#8216;n fantastiese Here. Hy leer ons mos nou al dat hy net \u00e9\u00e9n lang tafel in die hemel dek. Ek aanvaar &#8216;n groot simboliek in die hele ding wat die Here vir ons gemeenskap wil wys, en dit is Hy maak Sy mense om \u00e9\u00e9n tafel in \u00e9\u00e9n huis bymekaar. Dit wat hier gebeur, is geweldige liefde. Soveel hegte vriendskappe is oor soveel jare gesmee. Daar is soveel liefde \u2013 soveel dat baie mense ges\u00ea het in plaas van twee gemeentes kan hulle eerder as een gemeente saamkom en die Here uit een mond loof en groot aksies in die gemeenskap uitvoer, wat &#8216;n baie groter uitwerking in die gemeenskap kan h\u00ea,&#8221; s\u00ea Brand.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hy s\u00ea ook die kerkgebou gaan nie verkoop word nie, maar sal wel ten beste benut word vir enige moontlike Koninkrykstaak. Begrafnisse en troues gaan ook nog daar gehou word, maar die hoofbyeenkoms op &#8216;n Sondag gaan in die Moederkerkgebou wees. Die gereelde byeenkomste soos VLV-vergaderings, bloedskenk ens. sal steeds in die saal van die Wes-kerkgebou plaasvind.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brand sluit af: &#8220;\u2009&#8217;n Groot opgewondenheid heers en &#8216;n nuwe energie het losgekom, wat ons glo die Here wil gebruik om mense wat dalk afgedwaal het weer terug te verwelkom en te leef soos die Here ons roep om &#8216;n verskil in en buite die gemeenskap te maak.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Du Toit s\u00ea: &#8220;Ons gemeente is baie gerig op die gemeenskap, om betrokke en relevant te wees in die omgewing waarin ons woon. Ons fokus is om uit te gaan saam met nuwe broers en susters om die Here te dien.
