{"id":66759,"date":"2025-03-27T14:39:44","date_gmt":"2025-03-27T12:39:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/hermanustimes\/?p=66759"},"modified":"2025-03-27T14:42:46","modified_gmt":"2025-03-27T12:42:46","slug":"gewilde-kleurloop-bied-groot-pret","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/hermanustimes\/gewilde-kleurloop-bied-groot-pret\/","title":{"rendered":"Gewilde kleurloop bied groot pret"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Mitzi Buys\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die Kankervereniging van Suid-Afrika (KANSA) se jaarlikse kleurpretloop en Shavaton, &#8216;n KANSA-geldinsamelingsprojek wat Saterdag 15 Maart by die Tsogo Sun Caledon Hotel gehou is, was weer eens &#8216;n groot sukses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oud en jonk het aan die pretloop deelgeneem. Sommige het die 5 km-afstand gedraf en ander het rustig gestap. Soos gewoonlik was die groot opwinding die oomblik toe die sakkies met gekleurde poeier oopgemaak en gestrooi is, asook toe die &#8220;poppers&#8221; met gekleurde poeier afgeskiet is.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die landloopspan van Swartberg Prim\u00ear, wat uit 11 atlete bestaan het, het die pretloop met gemak gewen. Na afloop van die pretloop kon alle deelnemers en selfs belangstellendes wat nie deelgeneem het nie, hul hare in verskillende kleure laat spuitverf. Basil Carelse, die volhoubaarheidsko\u00f6rdineerder van KANSA vir die Overberg en Boland, het geduldig aan elkeen gevra watter kleure hulle verkies en blitsvinnig hul hare gespuit. Dit was omtrent &#8216;n kleurryke aff\u00eare wat gewissel het van net een kleur tot <br>re\u00ebnboog-kleure en selfs gekleurde kolle op die hare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Georgina Simons, &#8216;n kanker- oorwinnaar, het die pretloop saam met familie en vriende gedoen. Na afloop van die pretloop, wat sy gestap het, het Basil Carelse haar verras met &#8216;n survivor sash wat sy die res van die oggend met trots gedra het. Simons het haar kankerreis met HermanusTimes gedeel. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Fase 3-borskanker is in 2013 by my gediagnoseer. Ek was 50 jaar oud. Dit was &#8216;n geweldige skok. In daardie stadium was my man, Anthony, wat intussen oorlede is, verlam en in &#8216;n rolstoel n\u00e1 &#8216;n ongeluk en my drie seuns \u2013 Leeroy, Angelo en Georgan \u2013 was nog op skool. N\u00e1 intensiewe behandeling wat ses chemo- en 15 bestralingsessies ingesluit het, is ek kankervry verklaar.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Ek was 10 jaar in remissie, maar verlede jaar tydens my jaarlikse mammogram-ondersoek is &#8216;n klein knoppie in my bors ontdek en ek moes &#8216;n gedeeltelike mastektomie ondergaan,&#8221; s\u00ea Simons. Simons noem dat sy geheel en al geskok was, want sy het nie geweet dit kan weer gebeur nie. &#8220;Dit is hoekom dit so belangrik is dat ons gereeld vir ondersoeke moet gaan. Ek het elke jaar vir mammogramme en sonars gegaan. Ek is tans op behandeling en gaan binnekort weer vir &#8216;n opvolgondersoek, maar sover lyk dit alles goed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Dit is &#8216;n mindset-ding. Jou instelling vervul &#8216;n baie groot rol in hoe om dit te verwerk en te aanvaar en dit help ook met jou genesingsproses. Mense moet nie skaam wees om daaroor te praat nie. Hulle moet na mense uitreik, want dit maak dit soveel ligter as jy daaroor praat. My drie seuns het my so ondersteun, asook my man toe hy nog gelewe het, en ek kan net die Here prys en alle eer aan Hom gee,&#8221; sluit Simons af. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Basil Carelse, wat vir 11 jaar &#8216;n vrywilliger by KANSA was, maar nou twee jaar daar werk,  s\u00ea: &#8220;Ek help om geld in te samel sodat ons pasi\u00ebnte kan help wat van verliggende gebiede na die Tygerberg- of Groote Schuur-hospitaal toe moet kom. &#8220;Ons het twee versorgingshuise waar pasi\u00ebnte kan oorbly. Die geld wat ons met colour runs en shavathons insamel, help om die pasi\u00ebnte te huisves en met vervoer na die hospitaal.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carelse noem ook dat pasi\u00ebnte by ondersteuningsgroepe in verskeie gemeenskappe kan aanklop vir ondersteuning. Skole het dikwels &#8216;n muntlegging of haarkleur-geleentheid om geld vir KANSA in te samel en maatskappye maak ook gebruik van hul dienste, veral as hulle &#8216;n gesondheidsdag aanbied.
