Hermanus Times<\/span> se joernalis, Rick Marais, is onlangs as een van die top-20-finaliste van die Ingrid Jonker L\u2019Art Poetique-kompetisie aangewys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marais vertel hy is een van Ingrid Jonker se grootste aanhangers. \u201cEk is mal oor haar gedigte en hoe sy mense met haar digkuns kan raak. Haar gedig getiteld \u201cDie kind wat doodgeskiet is deur soldate by Nyanga<\/span>\u201d<\/span> is een wat my die meeste raak. Sy het haar digkuns gebruik om vir di\u00e9 wat sukkel op te staan. Dis waarom ek besluit het om die geleent\u00adheid aan te gryp en in te skryf.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hierdie jaar is die eerste keer dat Marais aan die kompetisie deelgeneem het. Marais het \u2019n hartroerende gedig, \u201cStuur haar vinnig\u201d<\/span>, ingedien onder sy skrywersnaam Daniel Marais. Die gedig vertel die storie van die agtjarige Tazne van Wyk van Elsiesrivier wat vroe\u00ebr vanjaar wreed vermoor is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Van Wyk se lyk is op 20 Februarie in \u2019n stormwaterpyp langs die N1 net buite Worcester gevind. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDie gedig is aan Tazne van Wyk opgedra wat vinnig onskuldig deur haar ouers winkel toe gestuur is vir inkopies en toe skielik verdwyn het,\u201d vertel Marais.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens Zalman Davis, die sameroeper van die kompetisie, het 399 digters ingeskryf en hy hoop daar gaan volgende jaar meer inskrywings wees. Davis vertel die doel van die kompetisie is om opkomende skrywers die platform en geleentheid te gee om hul skryfwerk ten toon te stel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marais vertel toe hy sy naam op die top-20-lys sien, het hy sy asemhaling vir so \u2019n rukkie opgehou en toe het hy weer gelees net om seker te maak. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEk kon werklik nie glo ek is in die top-20 nie en dit boonop in \u2019n kompetisie wat genoem is na my gunstelingdigter.\u201d Sy liefde om gedigte te skryf, kom al van \u2019n jong ouderdom af en dit het begin groei toe hy \u2019n digbun\u00addel van T.T. Cloete vir R20 in \u2019n tweedehandse-winkel gekoop het. \u201cEk het die digbundel ver\u00adslind en besluit om self te probeer. Ek het in my vrye tyd gedigte begin skryf en agtergekom dat gedigte wat my raak en inspireer oor mense gaan wat swaarkry of \u2019n misdaad wat teen iemand gepleeg is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Klip in die bos het \u2019n opname van Marais se gedig gemaak met Eurika van Wyk wat dit voorgedra het. Di\u00e9 video is al 166 000 keer op Facebook gekyk. Hierdie jaar word die 20 finaliste se gedigte in \u2019n digbundel, As jy lag, saamgevat. Dit is ook genoem na een van Ingrid Jonker se gedigte.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
