The Hermanus Night Shelter received a R107 000 donation from the Cape Town Harley Owners Group this past Sunday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A small handover ceremony took place before the Windsor Hotel, with Dr Annelie Rabie, Mayor of the Overstrand and Councillor Elnora Gillion there to share the heartfelt moment with Ray Hartmann of the Hermanus Night Shelter Association, when he received the large cheque from the Cape Town Harley Owners Group. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Hermanus Night Shelter has been four years-plus in the making,\u201d said Hartmann. \u201cThe reason it is possible is people such as the members of the Cape Town Harley Owners Group. I couldn\u2019t believe my eyes when I saw the big amount on the cheque.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Malvin Meyer, secretary and historian of the Cape Town Harley Owners Group, said the group has donated all proceeds from its fundraising efforts over the past six years to help with the construction of the night shelter. \u201cWe raised the money through various fundraising initiatives at our Cape Seal Rally in Hermanus,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe donated all proceeds to the building project for the past six years. The donations came from raffles, auctions, and donations from third parties. But this year\u2019s R107 000 we handed over was the highest so far.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
